New York club BASEMENT is opening a second, smaller room called STUDIO. To counter the main room’s techno bookings, STUDIO will host longer sets by a broader range of DJs and live acts. The space, which comes with a Funktion-One sound system and a panorama of windows, will also stay open later.

The first artists booked to play STUDIO include Efdemin, Dee Diggs, Gabrielle Kwarteng, Schacke, Interstellar Funk, Ryan Elliott, Massimiliano Pagliara and The Carry Nation.
“While BASEMENT is very focused on a certain sound—very direct, very honed techno that never loses energy—STUDIO is more about space and diversity,” said the club’s cofounder GeGa Japaridze.
“We imagine it as a more intimate space, and a little more loose. A later curfew will allow DJs to play longer sets, which is so important for the journey on the dance floor. I think the real experience starts after two hours.”
