In the heart of San Francisco’s SOMA district exists one of the best mid-sized dance music venues in the world: Audio. Designed by sound fanatics for sound fanatics, Audio nightclub has been curated to present a level of quality in both sound and musical talent unlike any other space.
In April 2017, Audio underwent an upgrade that continues to demonstrate why the club is world renowned. Many international DJs already regard Audio Discotech as one of their favorite clubs with the best sound in San Francisco and Funktion-One has now chosen Audio to be the showcase venue for their immaculate system. This new upgrade has allowed Audio to improve even further upon its already proven formula of combining the best sound, lighting and musical talent in an intimate setting. Upon entry, you’ll find yourself welcomed with the world’s first Funktion One 3D surround system, flagship Funktion One speakers and a dynamic 3D lighting system, creating a truly state-of-the-art immersive experience.
Audio’s custom sound system is built around Funktion One’s brand new 32” subwoofer, EVO6 loudspeaker and the 21” subwoofer. It is the only club in the world outside of Output in New York whose sound system features the 32” subwoofer, which has not officially been released to the public. The sound system is purposely over engineered, allowing it to run at only 20-30% of its full capability. This allows the system to be clean, dynamic and fast. The 32” sub goes flat down to 24hz and paired with the 21” subwoofers, is the new gold standard in bass. The system boasts 54,000 watts of power – over 3 times the power of the system it replaced and massive for a 400-person venue.
Owners Anderson Pugash, David Brinkley, and Bruce McDonald have ensured all the Vegas-style trappings are in place, from the high-end sound system, designed by Funktion-One and featuring 1,200 square feet of acoustic paneling for optimal listening, to the extremely awesome 45-foot wall embedded with over 1,000 LED lights.https://sf.eater.com/2013/8/15/6386109/audio-discotech-a-lavish-soma-nightspot
Taking over the old Mist Ultra Club, Audio SF is a SoMa club with “a nod to the past but an eye to the future,” as they put it. Designed with the interior of a ’70s Cadillac in mind, the decor of the 3500 square foot club is all deep warm shades of red and gold. There’s a Funktion-One system to rock the sunken dance floor (outfitted with rubber to make it easier on dancers’ feet).https://ra.co/clubs/82338
